There may be times when you don't have health insurance… if you just graduated, if you are in between jobs, or if you have to wait for another plan’s coverage to start. But you should never go without health protection. Until you get a permanent plan, SelecTEMP from Blue Cross of Illinois can keep you covered.
SelecTEMP is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health insurance plan — a type of managed care. With a “network” of doctors, hospitals, and other healthcare providers to choose from, you can get discounted medical costs and full healthcare coverage.
A SelecTEMP plan will let you choose when you want your coverage to start and how long you want to be covered. Coverage terms range from one to 6 months. You can also choose the deductible that is most affordable to you.
With SelecTEMP you are eligible for $5,000,000 worth of coverage. And you can choose your deductible — it can be as low as $500 and up to $5,000. Keep in mind, as deductibles go up monthly premiums will go down.
As long as you stay within SelecTEMP’s network of healthcare providers, you won’t have a hospital admission deductible — and you’ll get 80% coinsurance coverage for many medical services, including physical therapy and X-rays. But if you receive care outside the network, your hospital admission deductible becomes $300 and coinsurance drops to only 60% coverage.
Your total costs will be your chosen deductible, your premiums, and your maximum out-of-pocket limit.
An out-of-pocket limit is the maximum amount you are responsible for paying. For in-network healthcare providers, you will pay no more than $1,000. That means you will pay 20% of your medical bills until it adds up to $1,000. After that, your SelecTEMP plan covers all medical costs, as long as you pay your premium and your deductible has been met.
For outside care providers, the out-of-pocket limit goes up to $2,000.
